Welcome to Christ UMC web page. We hope you enjoy browsing our site. If you are looking for a friendly, family oriented medium size church, you have found it here at Christ. We have a mixture of Young adults, middle aged “new grandparents” and a wonderful group of seniors.
Now I wouldn't dare define any of the ages I just listed but I know this, you will find the warmest church you'll ever walk into; that I can promise. Our services are a mix between traditional hymns and praise and worship music. All our services are led by several church members who volunteer their time each week. Our choir is dedicated to offering to anyone who wants to sing an opportunity to try out your voice.
We have a wonderful nursery for children under 2 years old. Our Sunday school offers classes from pre-school through adult. I like to think that the sermons are faithful to God's Word and informative and will give one a challenge each week, if you will allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
Our Wednesday night suppers are the best in Albany. The first visit is free. Following supper we have a time of prayer and bible study. I am available anytime to counsel or just to talk either by phone, e-mail or in person. Thank you for taking time to look around our web page.
We hope you will give Christ United Methodist Church a chance to meet you. Here is my p.s. to you. If you are looking for some place just to hide out and not grow in your walk with Jesus Christ. You might find that difficult.
We want everyone to have an active roll as she/he would desire. You will never be “forced” into any service roll, but you will be given many opportunities to serve the Lord Christ. May God bless you this day as you serve our Risen Savior. -- Kent
Our Music Ministry
The music ministry of Christ UMC is led entirely by members of our congregation, on a voluntary basis, whom the Lord has gifted to serve God through music.
The blend of beloved hymns with contemporary "praise and worship" songs is very meaningful to our worshipers, whatever their tastes in music. Our emphasis is on worshiping our God in spirit and in truth.
Our 15-voice choir rehearses every Wednesday following the family supper and bible study, and ministers in song during each Sunday morning service. Our repertoire includes a growing number of beautiful arrangements of the classic hymns as well as those of contemporary song writers such as Chris Tomlin, Chris Rice, Twila Paris, Lari Goss and Michael W. Smith.
We have within the choir many outstanding soloists and small groups who share their talents faithfully and frequently.
There comes such joy and blessing with serving God through music, and in this ministry of our church there is an ever-growing sense of "family" and unity, which we believe only comes from God as we seek to please God and lead our congregation, members and visitors alike, into worship.
Choir practice takes place every Wednesday night from 7:15 to 8:00. Everyone is welcome.
